Wasn't that an outstanding story?
"A Study In Emerald" was one of the best (if not the best) Sherlock Holmes pastiches I've ever read,
I kinda wish ASIE could be made into
some kind of a short film but that would really be impossible due to the plot twists and the story structure that IMHO
just really couldn't translate to a film.

He is right. Most people that want to be writers think they have this natural talent. Which most great writers do and did, but they too wrote a lot and read a lot. It all takes much practice.

Good thoughts. It takes a lot to succeed as a writer, and many don't take that to heart. I have a friend who thinks he is talented enough to just sit down one day and instantly become the next Kerouac---he is not, and I went to school with a lot of those bohemian-types who sit around cafes writing longhand just so they can be seen. But hey, with the horror of self-publishing coming now, they will all be validated as under-appreciated geniuses, right?
